Construction (with funded CSCS test)

Monday 24th September 2018
Mon – Fri (9:30am – 4pm)
This course runs for 2 weeks

Explore the construction industry with our updated programme. This course will give you both the Level 1 Health & Safety within the Construction Environment qualification and offer you the CSCS test – everything you need to apply for your CSCS card.

In this new, condensed programme, you will cover:

Pre-entry meeting 20th September at 10am at our offices in Sheep Street, Northampton.
To be eligible for this programme, you will need to have been a UK resident for at least three years, and have proof of benefits plus one other form of ID.



Retail and Customer Service

Monday 10th September 2018
Mon – Fri (9:30am – 4pm)
This course runs for 3 weeks

This programme is for learners who are looking to develop their knowledge and understanding to obtain employment within the sector, perhaps as checkout operators or sales assistants.

Throughout this programme, you will cover:

  • Gaining employment
  • Interview skills
  • Customer service
  • Employment rights
  • Understanding the business of retail
  • Understanding how a retail business maintains health, safety and security on its premises,
  • Understanding the retail selling process and much more.

Pre-entry meeting takes place on Thursday 6th September at 10am at our offices in Sheep Street, Northampton. To be eligible for this programme, you will need to have been a UK resident for at least three years, and have proof of benefits plus one other form of ID.



Security (CCTV and Security Officer)

Monday 3rd September 2018
Mon – Fri (9:30am – 4pm)
This course runs for 3 weeks

This three-week programme will give you an insight into the security industry, and gives you the Level 2 qualifications that meet the SIA requirements for a CCTV Operator or Security Officer licence (the licence is NOT included in the programme). You will also gain a Customer Service qualification.

We have several employers with live vacancies who will visit us during this course, offering you a guaranteed interview for their roles.

During this course, you will cover:

  • Teamwork within the Security Industry
  • Employment Rights & Responsibilities
  • Counter-Terrorism Procedures
  • Problem Solving
  • Customer Service
  • The Private Security Industry
  • Operation of CCTV Equipment
  • Patrolling
  • Searching
  • Emergency Procedures
  • Health & Safety
  • Legislation relevant to CCTV Operators & Security Officers.

To be eligible for this course, you must present a VALID passport or UK driving licence on enrolment, of which a copy will be taken. You should also bring proof of benefits and proof of address.

IT for the Terrified

Monday 3rd September 2018
Mon – Fri (9:30am – 4pm)
This course runs for 2 weeks

This two-week course is aimed at the absolute IT beginner. If you have no idea how to work a computer, then this is the course for you. We also give all learners who complete the course a brand NEW tablet computer to keep!

During this course, you will cover:

  • Parts and functions of computers
  • Microsoft Word, including the use of fonts, spacing and cut/paste
  • Microsoft Excel, including managing your household budget
  • Using the internet to apply for jobs, use online banking and apply for benefit
  • Troubleshooting common problems
  • Using email, including sending attachments, writing cover letters and opening files sent via email
  • Creating text and image documents
  • The use of customer and client services in an IT based environment
  • Creating simple presentations.

On completion of this programme, you will receive a brand new tablet to keep. To be eligible for this programme, you should have very little or no knowledge of IT. An assessment will be conducted at the beginning of the programme to assess your IT skills, and only those with very minimal IT skills will be permitted to enrol.

Please bring proof of benefits and a form of ID to your pre-entry meeting day which takes place on Thursday 30th August at 2pm at our offices in Sheep Street, Northampton.



Stewarding and Event Safety

Monday 17th September 2018
Mon – Fri (9:30am – 4pm)
This course runs for 2 weeks

This qualification is aimed at individuals who wish to work as a steward in the active leisure, event or entertainment sectors. This may include events such as sports, music festivals, concerts, parades or carnivals.

It covers how to prepare for events, control entry and exit of customers, identify and deal with crowd problems and respond to emergencies. Safeguarding, customer service and terrorism awareness are also key topics on this course.

Please note: this is not a SIA programme. Learners will achieve the nationally recognised qualification that is required for stewarding. Learners wishing to work in security will need to undertake one of our SIA programmes.
